  1. The closeup of the Red Spot shows
  2. the intricate network of cloud
  3. patterns. It measures about
  4. 15000 miles long by 7000 miles
  5. wide and makes a complete 
  6. rotation in 6 days. The red
  7. coloring is beleived to come
  8. from "phosphine" which
  9. rises to the top of the clouds
  10. and is then broken down into
  11. "red phosphorus-4".

  13. Note the white spot at the
  14. bottom. Numerous white spots
  15. are visible across the face
  16. of Jupiter as well as smaller,
  17. more short lived red spots.
